I was always curious about the possibility of getting paid to play video games online. It sounds like a dream job. I already know it isn’t as easy and fascinating as it sounds, if you try to do it on your own, which I wrote about here, but it’s supposed to be easy with Gaming Jobs Online.
Gaming Jobs Online is a membership website that matches its members with companies who need game testers. It’s not easy to find and get such jobs on your own, so the idea of the membership website that has such jobs lined up for you, sounds really good.
I have read some reviews about Gaming Jobs Online, but I noticed that most of them were biased, and the people who wrote them were affiliates. There’s nothing wrong about the affiliate reviews (I’m also an affiliate marketer) if they are honest.
The honest reviews are very useful, if the people who write them know the product. But, many of the Get Paid to Play Games website reviewers were just praising it for the affiliate commissions they wanted to make. I could see that they did not really use the site themselves.
The other group was calling it a scam right away, and they recommended other affiliate programs. They also weren’t the members of the site. So, after reading a few reviews I realized that I haven’t learned much from them.
I went to the website, and when I saw that it’s possible to test it for one week, just for $1, then I decided to try to test it myself. After doing it, I’m ready to write this Gaming Jobs Online Review and answer the question if it’s possible to get paid to play games with the Gaming Jobs Online membership.
Get Paid to Play Games – Gaming Jobs Online Review
First, let me write about their sales page. They write: “Discover How YOU TOO Can Easily Make up to an Average Of $49,063 A Year Enjoying Yourself As A Professional Video Game Tester Getting Paid To Play Video Games!”, right away in the beginning. If you read the whole sales page, it sounds like getting paid to play games is very easy and glamorous. You just sign up, choose the testing jobs, and you play, and you make money; a lot of money.
It seemed right away exaggerated and like a scam offer. But, the good thing is that you can buy it via Clickbank. When you buy anything via Clickbank, you can be certain that you can easily unsubscribe and get a refund, if you aren’t happy with your purchase.
In this case it was only, $1 for 7 days, and then $27 a month, covered by 60-day money back guarantee by Clickbank. I think 7 days is enough to see if it’s for you or not, so there’s no need for a refund, you can just cancel your membership and you won’t get billed.
But if you need more than 7 days, you still have 2 more months to test the product without any risks.
The Sign Up Process and Upsells
The sign up process was very easy and smooth. You can use either PayPal or a credit card to pay $1 for a 7-day trial. I chose the credit card. When you sign up for the 7-day trial, you are automatically signed up to be billed $27 monthly for the membership.
Clickbank will send you email with the info when you’re going to be billed $27, and how to cancel if you don’t want to pay $27.
After you pay, before you get to your membership page, you see an upsell, which is an offer to sign up for making money opportunity with surveys for $27, lifetime membership. I am not a fan of participating in surveys, so I declined.
The Membership Site
After you get to the membership site, there is a short introduction video, which recommends to watch 7 short videos named “Getting Started as a Video Game Tester” first. I did, and I think some of the info which is in the videos, should be on the sales page, so many people who think it’s easy to make money by playing games online, would not sign up. But, of course the sales page’s goal is to make you buy, not to worry if it’s for you.
Video Game Tester Training Videos
I’ll summarize shortly the info from the 7 videos, so you can decide quickly if it’s for you or not, if you aren’t certain if you should or shouldn’t sign up for the 7-day trial.
In the Video 1 they tell you right away, that it isn’t enough to sign up and play to get paid. They tell you, there’s some work to do to get paid and that you need to have some skills and be dedicated to succeed.
Anybody can do it, according to them, but you need some guidance and there’s some work to do to make money. So, before you start, you should definitely go through the training videos. They are quite short, so it won’t take you much time.
In the Video 2, there are some general instructions about the jobs. You must understand that it isn’t a hobby but a job, so there are some requirements to get the job. They are:
- You must always meet the deadlines
- You must be reliable and work fastidiously
- You might need to submit a resume to some companies
- You must have some basic skills like communication skills, working without being supervised, be organized, innovative, creative, etc.
- You must understand video games
- You might need some other skills and put them on your resume
- Some degrees might be helpful
In the Video 3 you learn about the members area and are also taught what to do if you don’t have the required skills to make money playing games.
You’ll see that there are some real jobs too, not just jobs that you can do from home. You need some experience and qualifications to get those jobs.
If you aren’t qualified to get those jobs, then you can go through the paid surveys, and get paid for doing the surveys. There are also some other make money online opportunities, like writing reviews, and making money with your own video games website. There’s even a video series how to create your own games, Facebook games, etc. Many of these opportunities are games related, but it might not be what you really signed up for.
In video 5 you learn about the main jobs of the video game tester, which are: trying to break the game and assessing the quality of the game experience
Playing games and testing them aren’t enough; you also must write reports in which you can communicate very well what you found out playing the games.
The info above should give you some idea what the training videos are about.
Premium Video Game Tester Jobs
The main part of the site is Premium Video Game Tester Jobs, where you can find specific jobs and sign up to get them.
I have tried to sign up for some of the jobs. First, I tried EA Playtesting, but they only had jobs in one location in Europe, where I am located now. It’s in Sweden, so too far from me. It’s not over the internet; you must be located in the specific location. The most locations are in the USA and Canada.
Second, I tried Volition Playtesting Opportunities, where I saw the message from them right away: We are in no way affiliated with GamingJobsOnline.com
If you arrived here via their website, please know that we only work with LOCAL participants in the Champaign, IL area.
Another one, accepts only participants from Montreal, Canada and Brighton, UK.
I tried a few others with similar result. That was enough for me. Now, I know that the promises on the homepage were exaggerated and it’s very unlikely that I’ll make any money with Gaming Jobs Online.
I decided to unsubscribe, which I did without any problems.
Gaming Jobs Database and Others
This is another part of the website, where you can find jobs in the gaming industry. There are jobs for engineers, mathematicians, managers, and some for testers too. They are mostly in the specific locations.
The other parts of the website are:
- Premium Surveys
- Premium How to Make Money with Your Own Video Website
- $400 Sign Up Bonuses
- How to Make Money with YouTube Gaming
Summary
I can’t call Gaming Jobs Online a scam, because there is some info and some jobs that might be useful for some people. If you think the site is for you, then you can go to Gaming Jobs Online
and sign up for 7 days $1 trial.
I personally find their marketing and the info on the sales page misleading. I think most of the people who sign up with them don’t make any money. I personally do not recommend GamingJobsOnline.com

Hello Chris,
I like your post, it is very useful. Unfortunately, there is still a lot of people, who really believe they could earn money very easy on the internet, which is in 99% not valid. So after your review, they could decide whether they can handle this job or not. As you mentioned that the information is misleading so it makes from this system quite a scam, although you are trying not to say it:). But the idea of earning money from playing games is fantastic, even for me as a women:).
Great post anyway, thank you for sharing it and looking forward to another one of yours!
Bye Renata
Hello Renata,
You’re right, it’s quite a scam.
Thank you for the comment.
Chris
Hi Chris.
I was so hyped when I came across your article. I really consider this to be one of my top 5 jobs to get paid to play games. I would love to test games instead of sitting at a desk job and ogling the time to fly by quickly.
Although it seems that Gaming Jobs Online does have legitimate jobs, it’s not the jobs you get the impression of doing when signing up. Sure, you will need to write reports and do additional admin, but where’s the actual game testing, online?
They may not scam people but they are referring to giving jobs that is location based and not offering anything that their name implies. This is illegitimate business and it borders on unethical.
Hi Ian,
Yes, you’re right. That’s not what people expect when signing up. So, it borders on unethical.
Thank you for the comment.
